2065121504 This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam - Do not fall for it - The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone -  Read www -treasury -gov tigta press press_tigta-- -htmAs general background information, here are a few things you can do:) Report it to TIGTA under www -treasury -gov tigta contact_report_scam -shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc -) - You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc -gov complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint) - This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns -) Help kill their phone lines - The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e -g - magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US - This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register - Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e -g - www -whitepages -com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and or law enforcement (local police and or state attorney general)) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress - As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: www -ndtv -com article india ex-call-cen - - mmission-) - A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see www -ice -gov doclib news library reports cornerstone cornerstone- -pdf) - You can use the following template for your letter (more powerful) or email: notes -com forum ta-aebadccf - -

Post by Too funny,

2065121504 I got a missed call from him, so I called back, claimed to be from the IRS and asked for my name and phone number - I have friends who are IRS agents and constantly tell me about this scam, the IRS never calls, they send letters out to you, and if you owe money, they will simply initiate legal proceedings, they would never call to warn you - Haha - So I told the guy, ohhhh you are just a scammer, I thought it was a real call - He said what? I told him, you are just a scammer, I thought it was a friend of mine calling but you are just an indian scammer - He just hung up - If he was a real IRS agent he wouldn't simply hang up and not call back to try to contact me again if I owed so much money haha this guy - -

Post by Pissed off,

206-512-1504 Just got a call from an Indian accented alleged IRS employee who said I intentionally defrauded the gov for , and they were going to send officials to my home within hours to arrest me -  I asked a bunch of questions, received no answers, and was treated rudely -  Once I got off the phone and googled the phone #, I was SHOCKED that soooo many are being targeted by this scam -  Am on hold right now with official IRS to report scam -  Wish I could come face to face with these jerks

Post by Guest,

2065121504 I called this number and he said, This is the IRS, How can I help you? Shouldn't this be fraud of some sort? Don't people of other countries know that we know their name isn't Robert or Adam or Steven when they have an Indian accent? Maybe Rahul, Mahesh or Kumar would be more believable - He stated various codes and was very threatening - These punks should be put in jail for impersonating the IRS - What punks

Post by Guest,

2065121504 My Taylor guy is Sean, same story, going to be arrested for IRS tax audit - Impossible without some prior contact, and especially if you new my financial situation - They should be heavily fined for this invasion of privacy

Post by Guest,

206-512-1504 I have received three calls from this same person using three names and a slightly different script - At first you think that this is real until you realize that you do not have any tax problems and the real IRS contacts you by mail and does not ask for money - I, too, wonder why this stuff is allowed to persist -
